If you see a “Check your browser settings” error when you load the Living Infrastructure Field Kit, you may be experiencing an issue with your web browser. Below are common issues you may be experiencing.
WebGL Settings
The Field Kit uses a technology called WebGL for rendering our map on modern browsers. To test whether WebGL is enabled in your browser, click here to run a test. If you do not see a spinning cube on the page, follow the troubleshooting settings below.
Chrome
Ensure your browser is updated to the latest version. This may solve the problem.
If that doesn’t work, open the Chrome menu and open Settings
Select the the System tab
Ensure that the Use graphics acceleration when available option is checked
Restart your browser
Firefox
Type about:config into your address bar and click enter
Search for webgl.force-enabled and ensure the preference is set to true using the toggle icon
Also search for webgl.disabled and ensure this preference is set to false
Restart your browser
If you are still having issues in Firefox, your computer may have an incompatible graphics driver. Consider trying to access the Field Kit using a different web browser.
Safari
In Safari, WebGL is generally enabled by default. However, if you are using a computer on on which WebGL may present a security risk, you may need to enable WebGL manually using the following steps:
In the menu bar, click Safari and then Preferences
Select the Websites tab
Select WebGL from the list on the left side of the window. This option may only be available if you are on a computer which requires manual WebGL configuration.
If you see the Living Infrastructure Field Kit website listed on the right, select Allow from the dropdown menu. Otherwise, look for When visiting other websites in the lower right corner of the window, and select Ask or Allow from the dropdown menu.
