Referencing the guidebook

The guidebook provides ready access to information about remedies, benefits, and layers to help guide site analysis and design. Each articles include general information and design tips for how to effectively use the resource.

Accessing the Guidebook

The guidebook can be accessed by clicking the book icon at the top-right corner of the tool. Additionally, anywhere a remedy, benefit, or layer is listed in the tool, a corresponding book icon will take you directly to the associated article.

Within the guidebook, you can search and browse among articles using the lefthand sidebar.

Remedies

Remedy articles can be accessed from within the guidebook, as well as within the remedy palette or from existing remedies in your site.

To open a remedy article from the remedy palette:

  1. Create or click into a site

  2. Click the Remedies icon at in the top-left tray

  3. Hover over a remedy sticker in the lefthand palette

  4. Click Learn More

To open a remedy article from an existing remedy:

  1. Click into a site

  2. Click on a remedy sticker in the site

  3. Click Learn

Remedy articles include the following tabs:

  • Benefits & Costs: An overview of associated effects and costs for the remedy

  • Pairings: Recommended remedies that generate synergies with this remedy

  • Tips & Resources: Design guidance and links to external resources

To add a remedy from the article:

  1. Click the Add to Sketch button, or click and drag the remedy sticker onto the map

To add a remedy from the Pairings tab:

  1. Select the Pairings tab

  2. Click the + button that is next to the pairing you wish to add

  3. Close the article to view and arrange the added remedies in your sketch

Benefits

Benefit articles can be accessed from within the guidebook, as well as from the site profile on the righthand side of the screen. Because each benefit also corresponds to a layer pack, benefit articles can also be accessed from the layer library and legend.

To open a benefit article from the site profile:

  1. Create or click into a site

  2. Open either the Benefits or Conditions tabs

  3. Hover over a benefit or opportunity, and click the guidebook icon

To open a benefit from the layer library:

  1. Click the Layers icon in the top-left tray

  2. Search or browse for a benefit layer pack. Layer packs are denoted by having multiple thumbnail images instead of only one thumbnail image.

  3. Click the guidebook icon

To open a benefit from the legend:

  1. Turn on a benefit layer pack

  2. Hover over the benefit name in the legend

  3. Click the guidebook icon

Benefit articles include the following tabs:

  • Remedies: A list of remedies associated with this effect

  • Layers: A list of layers in the layer pack

  • Tips & Resources: Design guidance and links to external resources

Layers

Layer articles can be accessed from within the guidebook, as well as from the layer library, legend, and site profile.

To open a layer article from the layer library:

  1. Click the Layers icon in the top-left tray

  2. Search or browse for a layer

  3. Click the guidebook icon

To open a benefit from the legend:

  1. Turn on a layer

  2. Hover over the layer name in the legend

  3. Click the guidebook icon

To open a layer article from the site profile:

  1. Create or click into a site

  2. Hover over any data card

  3. Click the guidebook icon

Layer articles include the following tabs:

  • Documentation: An overview of methodology, values, and data sources

  • Tips: Guidance for using the layer in site selection and design
